The first major iOS redesign to relase September 18th, 2013

Apple has finally announced the, long awaited, release of their redesigned mobile Operating System (OS) – the iOS 7!  And this announcement is not just skin deep; aside from the new look and flat but colorful icons, the new OS pack a bunch of new software and features.  Apple states “… It creates a sense of dimension. Several, in fact;” when speaking about the new user interface which promises to always put what you’re looking for at  your fingertips!

At the core of it all, is the Control Center: “Some things should be only a swipe away …”  Other notable changes/enhancements: Notification Center, Multitasking, Camera, Photos, AirDrop, Safari, iTunesRadio and of course – Siri.

Control Center: Gives you quick access to controls and apps you need based on the context; so you should always find what you’re looking for a swipe away!

Notification Center: You can access Notification Center from anywhere, and get a glimpse into everything from messages and email, to missed calls, traffic and even stock reports.

Multitasking: iOS 7’s smart multitasking learns your behavior so that it can predict your requests before you know you want them!

Camera: New shooting formats and filters open a world of possibilities and allow you to exercise your artistic license.

Photos: Years, Collections and Moments offer new smart grouping of photos which allow you better scrolling through your photos/videos library.

AirDrop: Sharing just became a click away!  Share from an image to an app with your friends without relying on texting or emails.

Safari: Between iCloud Keygen, new Tabs view and other enhancements, Safari is a new robust way to surf the Web.

·      iTunesRadio: Personalized streaming stations that adapt to your taste.

Siri: Siri has been optimized to be faster, check more sources and able to perform more tasks

Not all features are available on all devices.  For example, the new Siri features are only supported on iPhone 4S or later, iPad with Retina display, iPad mini and iPod touch 5th gen.  And, depending on your use of features, users should be warned that iPhone 5S will probably be the best hardware to fully take advantage of all iOS 7’s features.  That said, the majority of the users will be able to upgrade their older Apple devices with little to no pain; take caution to always backup your device before making changes.
